Brazilian Bank Employees Advocate Health Improvements in Santander Negotiations and 28th Bankers Race

The 28th Corrida dos Bancários took place on 23 August at the Orla da Boca do Rio, featuring 5 km and 10 km routes. Organized by the Sindicato dos Bancários, the event promoted physical activity, mental well‑being and social inclusion for bank workers, their families and friends.

On 28 August the Comissão de Organização dos Empregados (COE) of Santander convened a third round of collective bargaining focused on health. Workers demanded the preservation of medical assistance for retirees, limits on health‑plan costs, ergonomic assessments, a right to digital disconnection, mental‑health safeguards, and a menstrual‑leave provision. COE coordinator Ana Marta Lima said, “We expect Santander to come to this third round ready to negotiate effectively and understand the importance of the claims presented by the workers.” The negotiations aim to improve conditions and prevent illness among Brazil’s banking workforce.
