Brazilian Bank Workers Launch National Salary Campaign 2026

The Confederação Nacional dos Trabalhadores do Ramo Financeiro (Contraf‑CUT) opened a National Consultation for bank and finance workers that runs until 31 July. Responses will shape the demand agenda for the 2026 salary campaign, which will be negotiated with banks beginning on 1 October. The process includes local debates, a national conference in São Paulo on 5‑6 August, and the final agenda will guide collective bargaining.

In parallel, the Federação dos Trabalhadores em Empresas de Crédito (Fetec‑CUT/PR) held a caravan in Toledo, Paraná, urging banks to open new branches, hire more staff and improve wages and benefits. Union leader Fernando Comasseto warned that branch closures force customers to travel long distances and endure queues over two hours, while workers face excessive workload and health risks. The mobilization links better pay for workers with improved banking service for the public.
