Brazilian bank workers press for wage hikes and better conditions in unified campaign
The National Unified Campaign of bank employees in Brazil entered a decisive phase as the Comando Nacional dos Bancários met with the Federação Nacional dos Bancos (Fenaban) for a fifth round of negotiations. Workers are demanding real wage increases, improved mental‑health support, a 4‑day work schedule with three days off, telework rights, protection against abusive targets, and safeguards for digital banking security.
Separate talks were held by the Comissão de Empresa dos Funcionários do Banco do Brasil (CEBB) with Banco do Brasil representatives, focusing on career valuation, better job functions, inclusion policies, and a definitive solution for the Caixa de Assistência dos Funcionários (Cassi). The negotiations also address anti‑discrimination measures for women, Black workers, people with disabilities and LGBTQIA+ staff, as well as measures to prevent occupational illness.
Both sets of talks are part of the broader 2026 campaign that seeks to secure higher pay and healthier working conditions across public and private banks such as BB, Caixa, BNB, BNDES, Bradesco, Itaú, Santander and Mercantil.
