Brazilian banker Daniel Vorcaro kept in custody as STF rejects house arrest

Supreme Court Minister André Mendonça denied a request for house arrest by the defence of banker Daniel Vorcaro and ordered his immediate transfer to the “Papudinha” unit of the Federal District police, a special wing that houses authorities and high‑profile detainees. Vorcaro, arrested on 4 March 2026 during the third phase of Operation Compliance Zero, remains in preventive detention while investigators continue probing a fraud scheme linked to Banco Master and its proposed sale to Banco Regional de Brasília (BRB).

Federal police have presented new evidence of asset‑concealing maneuvers, which they say strengthens the need to keep Vorcaro in custody to prevent interference with evidence and further financial concealment. Neither a plea‑bargain offer nor a change in circumstances satisfied the Prosecutor‑General’s Office or the police, leading to the decision to move him from the Federal Police superintendency to the Papudinha facility, which offers limited contact with other inmates.

The court’s ruling emphasizes that no new facts justify releasing Vorcaro, maintaining his preventive detention as the investigation proceeds.
