Brazilian banker Daniel Vorcaro paid Lisbon travel for senator Ciro Nogueira and chamber president Hugo Motta

Brazilian Federal Police (PF) disclosed that banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, covered the expenses of a June 2024 trip to Lisbon for Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP‑PI) and Chamber of Deputies President Hugo Motta (Republicanos‑PB). PF obtained messages from Vorcaro’s phone showing he arranged and paid for five nights in a Four Seasons suite for each lawmaker, costing roughly R$ 90,000 per person.

The investigation also documented that Nogueira received additional travel benefits worth about R$ 468,700, including flights and hotel stays in Paris, New York and the French ski resort Courchevel, with private jet use on multiple occasions. In exchange, the PF alleges Nogueira introduced legislative projects favoring Vorcaro’s interests. Vorcaro is detained and negotiating a plea agreement, while Motta’s office says he faced no formal inquiry.

These findings were sent to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) as part of the same operation that previously seized Nogueira’s assets. The case raises concerns over potential undue influence of a private financier on high‑ranking Brazilian officials.
