Brazilian candidates propose new public security measures

In Brazil, political candidates are proposing different approaches to public security and law enforcement efficiency.

State deputy candidate Colonel Vinícius Almeida is advocating for the implementation of the Termo Circunstanciado de Ocorrência (TCO) by the Amazonas Military Police (PMAM). The measure would allow officers to register minor offenses directly at the scene, preventing patrol vehicles from being sidelined for hours at police stations. Almeida notes that the necessary technology, including mobile printers, is already integrated into new vehicles.

Meanwhile, federal deputy candidate Sargento Gurgel is calling for the strict application of the Legal Framework for Combating Organized Crime (Law 15.358/2026). This legislation targets the crime of structured social dominance, which involves criminal organizations using violence or threats to control territories, communities, or economic activities. The law specifically addresses tactics used to obstruct police operations, such as the installation of barricades and physical blockades.
