Brazilian vehicle consórcio reaches 5.53 million participants, up 10.2%

The light‑vehicle consórcio segment recorded 5.53 million active participants in May 2026, a 10.2 % increase over the same month a year earlier. Between January and May, consórcio credits worth R$ 61 billion were sold for automobiles, pickups and utility vehicles.

Consórcio sales grew 14.6 % in the first half of 2026, with 2.82 million quotas sold and total business of R$ 278.99 billion. In the vehicle‑light segment, 1.85 million quotas were sold, generating R$ 112.8 billion, a 5.7 % rise year‑on‑year. Active participants rose to 13.36 million in June 2026, up 12.6 % from June 2025.

Marcelo Lucindo, CEO of Evoy Administradora de Consórcios, said Brazilian consumers now plan car purchases by considering the full lifecycle and future replacement. ABAC executive president Paulo Roberto Rossi linked the growth to consumers seeking interest‑free, affordable installment options.
