Brazilian Catholic Church Calls for Renewed Focus on Priesthood Vocation

During the Catholic Church's Vocational Month and the celebration of Priest's Day, Brazilian clergy urged the faithful to reconsider the meaning of priestly vocation. The Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro highlighted the theological and canonical dimensions of holy orders, stressing that ordination leaves an indelible ontological character even when a priest is removed from active ministry.

The reflections also cited spiritual writers such as Simone Weil and recent papal teachings, encouraging young people to listen to God’s call—whether to the priesthood, religious life, marriage or lay service.
