Brazilian cattle sector embraces tech and genetics for higher efficiency

Nedap will hold a practical-use lecture on dairy‑cow monitoring at Agroleite 2026 in Castro, Paraná (Aug 3‑7). The session, featuring University of British Columbia professor Ronaldo Luis Aoki Cerri, will explain how continuous data on activity, rumination and feeding can be turned into alerts that guide reproductive and health decisions on dairy farms. Nedap Brazil manager Anna Luiza Belli stresses that interpreting the data is as important as collecting it, and the company will be supported by partners Alta Genetics, BouMatic/Ordemilk, GEA, GENEX and Lely.

Embrapa research highlights that improving feed‑efficiency in beef cattle enhances farm profitability and sustainability. More efficient genetics convert feed into meat with less input, lowering the main cost of bovine production and reducing greenhouse‑gas emissions. ABCB Senepol points to three benefits: better conversion, reduced production costs, and a smaller environmental footprint, underscoring the role of genetic improvement in modern Brazilian pecuária.
