Brazilian CEOs prioritize short-term goals amid economic uncertainty
According to the 29th CEO Survey released in January 2026, Brazilian executives are facing significant challenges in balancing immediate operational needs with long-term strategic planning. The data reveals that 57% of Brazilian CEOs dedicate their time to issues with a horizon of less than one year, while only 11% focus on long-term themes.
Economic instability and the advancement of artificial intelligence are primary drivers of uncertainty. Approximately 38% of CEOs in Brazil consider their organizations to be highly or extremely exposed to macroeconomic instability. Additionally, 51% of Brazilian CEOs reported that their companies have expanded into new sectors within the last five years.
Strategic planning experts, including Graziela Bernardo of the consultancy Recíproka, suggest that planning for the 2027–2029 triennium should serve as a directional guide that allows for adjustments. Effective planning requires integrating technology, leadership development, and a shared vision among leaders to navigate evolving business models and market trends.
