Brazilian Chamber's CCJ Approves Seals for Family Farming Support

The Commission of Constitution and Justice and Citizenship (CCJ) of Brazil's Chamber of Deputies approved a proposal creating two voluntary certification seals – “Amigo da Agricultura Familiar” and “Empresa Parceira da Agricultura Familiar”. The initiative, reported by rapporteur Deputy Patrus Ananias (PT‑MG) and originating from PL 3351/23 presented by Deputy Ana Paula Lima (PT‑SC), aims to promote, valorise and give visibility to economic agents that strengthen family farming.

The “Amigo da Agricultura Familiar” seal will be granted to commercial establishments that prominently offer products originating from family farms, whether in physical stores or digital channels. The “Empresa Parceira da Agricultura Familiar” seal will be awarded to companies that maintain durable, transparent and fair commercial relations with family farmers, covering logistics, storage, marketing or export. Eligibility criteria include proof of product origin, regular supply contracts, and adherence to social responsibility, transparency and respect for the diversity of Brazilian family agriculture.

A subsequent regulation will detail the criteria for granting, renewing and suspending the seals, as well as rules for visual‑identity use and social‑control mechanisms. The seals will be valid nationwide, voluntary, and do not confer direct tax, credit or subsidy benefits unless expressly provided for by other legislation.
