Brazilian children's musical series “B de Binho” launches on YouTube and Spotify
The new 2D animated musical series “B de Binho” is now available on the B de Binho YouTube channel and on Spotify. The 10‑episode show targets children aged 4‑7 and blends Portuguese literacy lessons with songs rooted in Brazilian popular culture. Each episode follows siblings Binho and Bia, accompanied by a magical pencil named Pitoco, as they explore concepts such as plurals, punctuation, the alphabet, antonyms and collective nouns.
The series was created by director, composer and Olive Tree Filmes founder Carol Mendonça, who drew on her background in multimedia arts and marketing. Musical production is handled by Silvera, a noted Brazilian R&B and soul artist who has worked with Gal Costa and other prominent musicians. The project aims to support national literacy goals, responding to data that only 59.2% of public‑school children finish second grade reading‑ready, with a government target of 80% by 2030.
By pairing imaginative animation with culturally resonant music, “B de Binho” seeks to make early reading engaging for Brazilian children and to contribute to the country’s post‑pandemic educational recovery.
