Brazilian Cinema Day: Free Manaus Screenings and Samsung TV Plus Marathon

The Semana do Cinema Brasileiro launched on 15 June in Manaus with free public screenings across cultural venues, honoring pioneers Silvino Santos and Roberto Kahane and showcasing restored documentaries, short films and new works that explore Amazonian identity, history and social issues. The programme runs until 20 June, featuring titles such as “Garrote”, “Santo Antônio da Terra Preta”, “Lados Opostos do Mesmo Rio” and the documentary “Bayaroá”.

On 19 June, Samsung TV Plus marked the same national cinema day with a curated marathon of classic Brazilian movies, including “Maria, Mãe do Filho de Deus”, “Eu, Tu, Eles”, “Cazuza – O Tempo Não Pára” and “A Vida Invisível”, plus exclusive interviews and series episodes on Brazilian film, offering on‑demand access throughout the day.
