Brazilian Cinemateca and São Paulo Festival Unveil Major Film Programs

The Cinemateca Brasileira, together with the Instituto Italiano di Cultura in São Paulo, is hosting a dual retrospective from 15 to 26 July that juxtaposes the works of Federico Fellini and Brazilian director Joaquim Pedro de Andrade. The program highlights their shared use of fantastical realism to explore national identity and cultural memory.

Meanwhile, the 50th edition of the Mostra Internacional de Cinema São Paulo is slated for 15 to 29 October 2026. The festival will move its traditional Sala Petrobras to the historic Solar Fábio Prado in the Faria Lima district and features renewed master sponsorship from Petrobras, new partners OI and Sesc, and support from the ProAC cultural program. The event will also host a professional audiovisual forum and a new exhibition on the festival’s five‑decade history.
