Brazilian cities adjust key streets for infrastructure repairs

The State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Logistics (Seinfra) began a gradual reopening of Avenida Liberdade in Belém on Friday, allowing passenger cars and motorcycles while keeping trucks, buses and trailers barred. Traffic is redirected at kilometre 10, with heightened signage and Detran agents guiding drivers. Repairs continue in three shifts after a 150‑metre pavement collapse in late June; the expressway, inaugurated in April 2026 with a R$ 410 million investment, remains under work.

In Maricá’s Itaipuaçu district, municipal authorities will fully close Rua 66 starting next Monday to carry out basic sanitation upgrades. The blocked section between Avenida Jardel Filho and Escola Municipal Oswaldo Lima forces motorists onto alternate routes while officials monitor traffic. The project expands sewage collection, aiming to improve public health and environmental protection, with the street to reopen after works finish.
