Brazilian cities roll out electric weed control and trail closures

The municipality of São José launched an electric weed‑control operation on Avenida das Torres, a seven‑kilometre arterial road linking several neighborhoods. The system, supplied by Zasso do Brasil, delivers high‑power electric pulses to vegetation, cutting labor needs and eliminating the use of herbicides. Officials say productivity could be up to ten times higher than manual mowing, with treatment lasting three times longer.

In Caraguatatuba, the local government closed a clandestine trail in the Mar Verde neighbourhood that had been used for theft and illegal hunting. After cleaning the area, crews planted native tree species to form a natural barrier, improving security for residents and restoring the local environment. Both initiatives reflect municipal efforts to combine rapid response to community demands with sustainable urban maintenance.
