Brazilian cities Atibaia and São Vicente expand free sports programs

The municipality of Atibaia completed a major renovation of the sports facilities at the Maria Kazuko Higashioka municipal school, investing R$ 737,868 to modernize the multipurpose court, Judo and marching band rooms, and improve drainage and flooring for the benefit of 566 primary‑school students. In the same city, the Sports, Leisure and Citizenship department opened new free swimming and football classes for children aged 6‑12, with schedules at the CIEM 1 pool and the Jardim dos Pinheiros field.

Meanwhile, the city of São Vicente announced a winter‑time program of free indoor sports classes, offered by the Secretariat of Sports and Leisure in venues such as the Dondinho and Luiz Gonzaga gyms, the Beija‑Flor sports centre and the Manoel Alves Barreto complex. The program includes Pilates, functional training, Zumba, karate, futsal, boxing, ballet and other activities, open to residents of all ages who register on site with identification documents.
