João Pessoa adjusts bus service for Brazil‑Japan World Cup match
The Superintendência Executiva de Mobilidade Urbana of João Pessoa (Semó‑JP) announced a special schedule for the city’s bus network on Monday, 29 June, to accommodate the Brazil‑Japan World Cup match. All 83 regular lines will operate as usual until 14:00, after which a temporary fleet reduction will be in place during the game. Additional trips are scheduled at 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00 to maintain service for passengers. From 16:00 onward, the network will return to a Saturday‑type operation with 78 lines in service. The measure follows the early closure of many commercial establishments, which lowers passenger demand during the match. Riders were advised to plan journeys in advance and follow guidance from on‑site staff. Semó‑JP Director Victor Gomes confirmed that late‑night services to the Manaíra and Mangabeira malls (22:20) and the Varadouro integration terminal (22:50) will continue as per the normal weekday timetable.
