Mato Grosso do Sul experiences varied weather this week with rain, heat spikes and lingering cold

A cold front moved into Mato Grosso do Sul early in the week, bringing low temperatures and fog. In Campo Grande, minima fell to 16 °C with the airport forced to suspend landings due to reduced visibility, while Sete Quedas recorded a low of 6.6 °C. Temperatures across the state remained between 6 °C and 22 °C, with occasional showers.

Mid‑week the pattern shifts. Heavy rain is forecast for Campo Grande on Friday (June 19) and Sunday (June 21), with probabilities of 100 % and 98 % respectively and expected accumulations of around 2 mm. Temperatures rise to a high of 31 °C on Sunday.

Further north, Cuiabá faces an intense heat wave, reaching up to 38 °C on Thursday (June 18) and Friday, while humidity drops to as low as 20 %. The week ends with still‑hot conditions but a chance of isolated showers.

June has already become the wettest month on record in Campo Grande, with more than 118 mm of rain recorded in the past 72 hours—over three times the monthly average.
