Brazilian cities Curitiba and Cuiabá hold animal adoption fairs
Jockey Plaza Shopping in Curitiba hosted the "Pet Movimenta" adoption fair on 20 June, offering seven dogs for adoption. The event, organized by the UniBrasil veterinary program, required prospective owners to undergo an interview and sign a commitment form.
In Cuiabá, the Complexo dos Juizados Especiais held an adoption fair on 15 June, presenting ten animals (eight dogs and two cats). Three adoptions were completed, and two families were in the interview stage. The fair was a joint effort of the municipal Secretariat of Animal Welfare, the judiciary and the NGO Anjos de 4 Patas, and also collected donations of food and supplies. Officials highlighted the educational component, linking the event to school programs and emphasizing the role of responsible ownership in urban safety.
Both events aim to reduce stray‑animal populations, promote responsible pet care, and foster collaboration between public authorities and civil‑society groups.
