Brazilian cities host November Black awareness programs

Municipalities in Brazil are launching various initiatives for November Black 2026 to promote racial equality and celebrate Afro-Brazilian culture.

In Macaé, the Municipal Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality (SEMPIR) has organized a schedule running from November 3 to 21. The program includes a braiding course, theatrical performances, the Carukango Prize, and lectures aimed at recognizing the protagonism of the Black population. Cultural highlights include a tribute to singer Clara Nunes.

In Juiz de Fora, the Special Secretariat for Racial Equality (SEIR) is hosting free activities throughout the month. The agenda covers topics such as religious racism, health, and violence against Black women. A specific seminar on environmental racism is scheduled for November 12 and 13, addressing how climate crises and racial inequalities impact social vulnerability following recent local flooding.
