Brazilian cities introduce free and special Sunday bus services
In the Federal District's Gama district, the Transport and Mobility Secretariat launched a new Sunday‑only bus line 251.9 to serve the Rua do Lazer street fair. The line runs from the Santa Maria BRT terminal to Gama, bypassing the road closed for the event, and is operated by Viação Pioneira. Passengers ride free under the district’s “Vai de Graça” program.
In Cotia, São Paulo, the municipal “Tarifa Zero Inclusiva” program offered free rides on all municipal bus routes on its first Sunday, attracting 6,746 riders. The benefit applies only to intra‑municipal lines; intermunicipal services remain fare‑paying.
