Brazilian cities launch winter coat drive under Campanha do Agasalho

Porto Alegre and Venâncio Aires in Rio Grande do Sul have started their local phases of the Campanha do Agasalho winter coat drive. In Porto Alegre, the mayor and first lady inaugurated the 2026 campaign, urging donations of blankets, children’s clothing and men's garments, and setting up multiple collection points across the city.

In Venâncio Aires, the "Dia do Desafio" event on 27 May incorporated the campaign, offering a single collection point for winter garments and coordinating distribution through municipal services and the local CRAS. Both municipalities emphasize that donated items must be in good condition and aim to support families facing the cold season.
