Brazilian cities Marília and Araras train school staff on inclusive education for autistic children

The municipality of Marília, São Paulo, held a training session titled “Acolhimento da Criança Autista: Como Diferenciar Crises e Birras no Contexto Escolar.” Attended by the mayor Vinicius Camarinha, the education secretary Rosemeire Frazon and local officials, the event prepared caregivers and school staff to recognize and manage autistic students’ needs, emphasizing the use of multisensory rooms, sound‑absorbing panels and tracking bracelets.

In Araras, also in São Paulo, the municipal education department organized a workshop for Professional Support Staff (PAE) under the theme “The role of each professional in building an inclusive school: belong, participate, learn.” Led by the special‑education division, the session offered strategies for inclusive pedagogy, highlighted the importance of collaborative support among teachers, psychologists and administrative staff, and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to continuous professional development for inclusive education.
