Brazilian cities of Ilhéus and Salvador pass local policy reforms

The municipal council of Ilhéus approved a law establishing the local components of Brazil's National Food Security and Nutrition System (SISAN). The ordinance creates a municipal food‑security policy framework and a specific action plan aimed at combating hunger and promoting healthy diets in the city.

In Salvador, the city council reactivated and restructured the Municipal Women's Council, adding a seat reserved for women from quilombola, Indigenous and Romani communities. The new council will have a gender‑balanced composition and is intended to strengthen participation of traditionally marginalized groups in municipal decision‑making.
