Brazilian cities Taquara, Campo Grande expand family assistance programs

The municipality of Taquara (Brazil) opened registrations for a new training cycle of its Programa Família Acolhedora Florescer, aimed at qualifying additional families to temporarily host children and adolescents placed under protective measures. The five‑session course begins on 19 August at the local family support centre, covering topics such as Brazil’s child‑care legal framework, child development, and the practicalities of family foster care. Currently sixteen families participate in the program, which has already provided temporary homes for 45 youngsters since its launch in June 2022.

In Campo Grande, the municipal government launched a series of inter‑sectoral colloquiums on 27 July 2026 across its twenty‑one social assistance centres. Bringing together health, education and social‑assistance teams, the meetings aim to improve coordination for families receiving Bolsa Família benefits, helping them meet program requirements and avoid benefit suspensions. Officials say the dialogue will enable more effective monitoring and support for vulnerable households.
