Rio Branco City Council Approves Revised Plano Diretor and Urban Amendments

The Rio Branco City Council voted on Thursday, July 9, to approve a revised Plano Diretor for the Acre capital. The legislation passed with a large majority, with only two councilors – André Kamai (PT) and Zé Lopes (Republicanos) – voting against it. Over thirty amendments were examined; nine of them, authored by councilor and first‑secretary Felipe Tchê (PP), were incorporated into the final text. The approved changes address micromobility rules, the creation of green transport corridors, mandatory landscaping on public works, expanded participation in the Municipal Urbanism Council, and provisions that guarantee legal security for existing enterprises.

Earlier in the week, councilors held a closed‑door meeting to coordinate the agenda before the legislative recess. The session focused on the upcoming vote on the new Plano Diretor and the municipal Budget Guidelines Law (LDO). The council’s approval moves the plan to Mayor Alysson Bestene for sanction, setting the framework for Rio Branco’s urban growth, mobility, environmental resilience, and investment climate.
