Brazilian clubs CRB appoint PC Gusmão as director while Cruzeiro pursues Helinho signing

Clube de Regatas Brasil (CRB) announced the hiring of former Vasco and Cruzeiro executive PC Gusmão as its new football director. Gusmão brings more than three decades of experience, having worked with clubs such as Vasco da Gama, Flamengo, Santos, Corinthians, Cruzeiro and others, and was part of Brazil’s national team staff that won the 1999 Copa América and the 2000 Pre-Olympic Tournament. He replaces Ari Barros, who left the club in April after a winless run and early cup exits, and will oversee the club’s planning ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Separately, Cruzeiro confirmed that it has shifted its transfer focus to Helinho, a 26‑year‑old winger from Mexico’s Toluca. The club had previously explored a deal for Gabriel Pec of Los Angeles Galaxy but found the price too high. Helinho, who joined Toluca in September 2024 for around $15 million, recorded 11 goals and nine assists in 35 matches last season and helped the team win three domestic titles and two continental trophies. Cruzeiro’s coach Artur Jorge is seeking additional attacking options, and the club is evaluating the terms of a possible move for Helinho while also monitoring other targets.
