In Saquarema, the municipality celebrated World Drowning Prevention Day on the same date, reporting a 72 % rise in preventive actions on its beaches compared with the previous year. From January to July 2026, the local Salvamar lifeguard unit carried out 2,568 safety‑orientation activities and performed 96 rescues, aided by recent investments in jet skis, rescue boards and motorized vehicles. Mayor Lucimar Vidal highlighted the importance of integrating technology and human vigilance to protect beachgoers.
