Brazilian communities get new bridge and tunnel access projects

Mayor Rodolfo Mota of Paraná inaugurated the rebuilt Padre Bridge in the Patrimônio São Sebastião do Barreiro community. The bridge, widened from 3.80 m to 6.50 m, cost R$ 300 000 and now accommodates large agricultural machinery, ending a 40‑year bottleneck for farmers and tourists. Mota also announced a partnership with the state government that secured about R$ 7 million to pave the entire access road to the Barreiro area.

In the Bairro São João district, a newly constructed tunnel replaces a hazardous at‑grade crossing of BR‑470. Residents report that the tunnel has greatly improved daily mobility and safety, especially after the installation of LED lighting. Local business owners and commuters, however, are calling for additional road paving and speed‑reduction measures, noting that heavy truck traffic still poses risks for pedestrians and workers accessing the area.
