Brazilian community Arraial festivals celebrate seniors and raise funds for children with cancer

The Secretaria da Família and Desenvolvimento Social in Barracão organized a traditional Arraial for the local senior group on 14 July, featuring typical foods, music, dance and activities aimed at fostering integration and well‑being among older residents. Municipal officials highlighted the event’s role in reducing isolation and announced plans to refurbish a dedicated venue for future senior gatherings.

On 19 July, the 19th edition of the Arraiá do Axé was held at the Sítio Além do Sonho in Ilha de Guaratiba, Rio de Janeiro. The festival combined music, forró, and regional cuisine with a charitable drive, collecting non‑perishable food donations for the Casa de Apoio São Vicente de Paula, which supports children undergoing cancer treatment. A roster of personalities from entertainment, sports and politics attended, reinforcing the event’s social‑impact focus.
