Brazilian municipalities launch new social assistance and community‑donation programs

Municipal and charitable bodies across Brazil are expanding social‑assistance initiatives. In Atibaia, the local Social Fund runs a year‑round donation drive for clothing, hygiene items and toys, prioritising men’s and children’s apparel. In Brusque, the ASTA association hosted a meeting to introduce its Casa‑Lar project and recruit volunteers. Araçatuba’s Espaço Prevenir offers open‑door, multidisciplinary support for families dealing with substance‑dependence, handling up to 200 cases a month. Niterói’s Apae celebrated its 61st anniversary with a benefit concert, channeling ticket sales to maintain free services for people with intellectual disabilities and autism. São José de Ribamar’s administration reported new equipment, community centres and income‑generation projects under its SEMAS program. Other efforts include a bottle‑cap collection in Guarulhos, a new SEAIS headquarters in São Caetano, an expanded CREAS facility in Morada do Morro, a July charity food drive delivering over 4 tonnes of supplies, and a partnership in Fortaleza between Unimed and RioMar to turn aluminum caps into mobility equipment. These actions aim to bolster vulnerable families, improve service capacity and promote local volunteerism.
