Embraer and JBS report mixed Q2 2026 financial results
Major Brazilian and international corporations reported diverse second-quarter 2026 financial results. Embraer saw a significant surge in shares following an adjusted net profit of R$ 1.113 billion, a 25.1% increase year-over-year. The company also raised its 2026 free cash flow projections to US$ 400 million or more.
In the meat industry, JBS reported record net sales of US$ 23.9 billion, up 14% from the previous year, though it recorded a net loss of US$ 102 million due to non-recurring items including antitrust settlements and bond tender costs. Similarly, Smithfield Foods lowered its full-year sales and profit forecasts, citing cautious consumer spending and high input costs.
In the agribusiness sector, São Martinho reported a 39.3% drop in net profit for the first quarter of the 2026/27 harvest, reaching R$ 38.1 million, pressured by lower sugar and ethanol prices.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian Ibovespa index experienced volatility, facing downward pressure from domestic economic concerns and global uncertainty, including geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz affecting oil markets.
