Brazilian companies report age-related barriers in the workplace
A survey conducted by the Associação Brasileira de Qualidade de Vida (ABQV) involving 110 companies in Brazil reveals that 70% of organizations identify age-related barriers in the workplace. These obstacles affect hiring, promotions, and professional development.
While longevity is increasingly discussed in human resources, it has not yet been integrated into formal corporate strategies. Only 7.3% of the surveyed companies report that longevity is part of their core business strategy. Most current initiatives are limited to health prevention and promotion, with 40.9% of organizations focusing on these areas, while only 28.2% offer training and development programs.
The study, which represents approximately 530,000 workers, highlights a gap between the increasing presence of multiple generations in the workforce and the implementation of structured organizational policies to manage age diversity.
