Brazilian consumer protection agencies roll out assistance tours in Ceará and João Pessoa
The Ceará State Public Defender's Office (Decon) launched the "Decon Viajante" program, visiting the Cariri region from July 14 to 17, 2026. The mobile service set up in Crato, Barbalha, Mauriti and Juazeiro do Norte offered legal guidance, complaint registration, debt renegotiation with banks and companies, and access to credit‑protection databases such as SPC/Serasa.
In João Pessoa, the municipal consumer protection agency (Procon‑JP) held a "Procon‑JP Solidário" event on July 11, distributing 300 basic food baskets to vulnerable families in the Novais and Indústrias neighborhoods. The aid is financed with funds recovered from administrative fines through Terms of Adjustment of Conduct, a practice the agency’s secretary described as “returning resources from fines to the population.” Recipients praised the support, noting it helped keep their households stocked.
