AI transforms automotive purchasing and driving in Brazil
Artificial intelligence is significantly reshaping the automotive sector and digital consumer experiences in Brazil. According to Google research presented at Anfavea Visions 2026, 57% of Brazilian consumers use AI tools during the vehicle selection process, with 13% delegating parts of the decision-making to the technology. AI is primarily used to organize data, compare models, and analyze costs, maintenance, and insurance, often extending the research phase of the purchase journey.
In the manufacturing sector, BYD is investing heavily in the future of autonomous driving, employing nearly 5,000 engineers for these projects. The company has also announced a R$ 300 million investment in a research center at Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro to focus on mobility innovations. Additionally, Localiza is utilizing AI to enhance fleet management and customer experience, including features like facial recognition for vehicle access.
Beyond purchasing, cybersecurity experts note that AI is creating a dual challenge: while it can provide 'invisible security' through biometric and behavioral analysis to improve user experience, it is also being used by criminals for hyper-personalized social engineering campaigns, potentially eroding consumer trust in official digital channels.
