Brazilian court blocks assets of Fictor Invest to protect investors

A court in Pará ordered the seizure of up to R$ 355,000 in assets belonging to Fictor Invest after an investor sued to recover funds that were not returned. The decision follows a prior ruling by a court in Paraná that authorized the blocking of R$ 200,000 of the same group’s assets. Both orders were issued while the Grupo Fictor, which includes Fictor Holding and Fictor Invest, is under a recovery‑judicial proceeding that began in February and lists more than R$4 billion in debt. The group had previously attempted to purchase Banco Master, a deal that collapsed after the Central Bank of Brazil ordered the bank’s liquidation. Judges highlighted the risk of asset dissipation and insolvency, allowing the arrest of bank accounts and, if needed, the seizure of vehicles and real estate, though they rejected blocking the personal assets of the company’s owners. The investor’s claim was represented by Stella Advocacia.
