Brazilian courts order damages against Facebook and influencer for online misconduct

A court in Alagoas ruled that Facebook must pay R$ 10,000 in moral damages and return more than US$ 8,600 withheld from a digital creator after an unjustified interruption of page monetization. The judge ordered the platform to reactivate the creator’s monetization within ten days, with a daily fine for non‑compliance.

The Minas Gerais Court of Justice upheld a conviction of a Juiz de Fora influencer who defamed a veterinarian on social media. The influencer was ordered to pay R$ 4,000 in moral damages, publish a public apology for seven consecutive days, and face daily fines if the retraction is not honoured.
