Brazilian courts rule on separate political misconduct cases in Amazonas and Pará

The Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Amazonas (TCE‑AM) unanimously dismissed a complaint filed by state deputy Brena Dianná against fellow deputy Mayra Dias (PSD). The allegation that the "Ação em Dias" social project misused public resources for electoral purposes was found unsupported, with the court noting no evidence of fiscal damage or diversion of purpose.

In Pará, the Tribunal Regional Eleitoral (TRE‑PA) upheld the cassation of councilor Edivaldo Borges Gomes, known as Irmão Edivaldo, after he was found to have used glasses equipped with hidden cameras to record voters’ choices and pay them for their votes in the 2024 municipal election in Ourilândia do Norte. The decision annuls his mandate, declares his elected votes invalid and orders a recount of the municipal council seats.
