Brazilian courts suspend operations for legal holiday

The Brazilian judiciary is suspending regular operations for two days to observe the holiday commemorating the establishment of the country's first law courses.

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) will have no business hours on Monday (10) and Tuesday (11). This suspension, governed by TSE Ordinance No. 533/2025, will result in the automatic extension of procedural deadlines to Wednesday (12).

Similarly, the Court of Justice of Mato Grosso do Sul (TJMS) will suspend activities for the same period. During this time, judicial services will operate under an emergency on-call regime to handle urgent matters such as arrests, provisional liberty, protective measures under the Maria da Penha Law, and habeas corpus. Normal operations for both institutions are expected to resume on Wednesday (12).
