Brazilian cultural groups launch initiatives to promote Afro-Brazilian and Chinese heritage
The UFBA Contemporary Dance Group is embarking on its first international tour to China, supported by BYD. The tour, titled ‘Ancestralidade em Movimento’, will visit Shanghai, Wuhan, and Yichang. The program includes dance workshops, lectures, and live musical performances focused on Afro-Brazilian ancestry and the ‘corpo tambor’ concept.
In Brasília, the University of Brasília (UnB) will host the 4th Interactive Music and Architecture Festival (Fima). Celebrating the 2026 Brazil-China Cultural Year, the festival explores ‘Chinoiserie’—the influence of Chinese aesthetics on Brazilian colonial art and architecture. The event features musical works ranging from 18th-century Portuguese dance to compositions inspired by Chinese traditions.
