Brazilian demand for international higher education rises

The Brazilian exchange market saw significant growth in 2025, reaching R$ 7 billion, a 27.3% increase from the R$ 5.5 billion recorded in 2024. According to the Selo Belta 2026 research conducted by the Associação Brasileira de Agências de Intercâmbio, there is a rising trend of Brazilians seeking undergraduate and postgraduate degrees abroad.

Academic training now accounts for 23.6% of the most desired exchange modalities. Experts suggest this shift reflects a more mature approach to career planning, where students view international education as a professional investment rather than just a life experience. Key drivers for this demand include the pursuit of high-quality education, language development, and the desire for better networking and employability in the global job market.
