Brazilian Deputies Deny Meeting Driver Linked to Ex-Banker Daniel Vorcaro

Records obtained through a request under Brazil's Access to Information law show that Sidney Santos, known as “Kiko” and former driver of ex‑banker Daniel Vorcaro, entered the Chamber of Deputies building on four occasions in February 2024 and listed the offices of deputies Geraldo Mendes, Benes Leocádio, Pedro Westphalen and Ubiratan Sanderson as destinations.

All four legislators have issued statements denying any contact with Santos. Sanderson said he “never met or knew” the driver and cited his official agenda as proof. Westphalen and Leocádio also refuted receiving him, and Mendes offered no comment. The driver is mentioned only indirectly in a Supreme Court decision authorising searches at Senator Ciro Nogueira's addresses; he is not under investigation. The controversy arises from a draft bill on carbon‑credit trading that Vorcaro’s family has shown interest in promoting.
