Brazilian deputies exceed R$123 million in parliamentary spending this year

Expenditures by Brazilian deputies through the Parliamentary Activity Exercise Quota (CEAP) have exceeded R$123 million this year. These funds cover various costs, including airfare, mobile phone bills, fuel, and political advertising.

In August, despite the absence of mandatory in-person sessions in the Chamber of Deputies due to remote sessions, CEAP spending reached R$1.6 million. Year-to-date, over R$50.6 million has been spent on mandate advertising, R$26.8 million on vehicles, and R$15.4 million on fuel.

Separately, the Brazilian Senate has failed to respond to a summons from Supreme Federal Court Minister Cármen Lúcia regarding a legal action filed by Senator Eduardo Girão. The action seeks the installation of the Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum Council following a complaint against Senate President Davi Alcolumbre.
