Brazilian Deputy Any Ortiz proposes youth betting limits and optional school calendar for 2027 Women's World Cup

Deputy federal Any Ortiz (PP‑RS) presented two separate legislative initiatives in Brazil. One bill seeks to tighten “responsible gambling” rules for young adults, limiting monthly online betting deposits to half a minimum wage for ages 18‑21 and to a full minimum wage for ages 22‑25. It also bans holding active accounts on multiple betting sites and prohibits cash‑back or free‑bet offers to users who have been inactive for more than ten days. The proposal is now under committee review.

A second bill (PL 3481/26) aims to make the mandatory alignment of school calendars with the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup optional. The measure would allow public and private schools to decide whether to adjust first‑semester vacation dates to match the tournament, giving institutions and families greater autonomy over scheduling.
