Brazilian disability rights groups demand retraction from Estadão

The Movimento PcD e Raros, supported by 57 Brazilian entities, has issued a note of repudiation demanding a retraction from the Estadão newspaper. The movement is protesting an editorial that characterized a recent Supreme Federal Court (STF) decision as "populismo do judiciário" (judicial populism).

The controversy follows a unanimous STF ruling that declared certain aspects of the Tax Reform unconstitutional because they excluded persons with disabilities from specific benefits. The court's decision aimed to prevent discrimination and ensure that individuals with disabilities are not excluded from benefits based on their degree of disability.
