Brazilian doctors involved in fatal traffic accidents raise safety concerns

An ophthalmologist was killed in a collision between two cars on the BR‑222 highway near Sobral, Ceará, on 17 May. The doctor, identified only as Janderson, was traveling from Itapipoca to the Aracatiaçu district when the crash, which also involved other healthcare workers, resulted in his death at the scene.

Separately, a physician in Goiânia, Goiás, signed an agreement with the public prosecutor to avoid trial after a high‑speed crash on Avenida T‑63 caused two fatalities. The deal, intended to provide alternatives to imprisonment, sparked local discussion about traffic safety on busy urban roads.
