Brazilian dogs rescued after abandonment spark public and legal response

In Vale do Sol, Minas Gerais, a 37‑year‑old woman was arrested by the Military Police after abandoning a dog named Locsy inside a locked vehicle, citing lack of space in her apartment. The animal was rescued, received medical care and is now awaiting adoption.

In a separate case, a mixed‑breed dog named Thalia, who had given birth in the forest, was found and taken to the ONG Amigos de São Francisco. The shelter provided spaying, vaccinations and deworming before the dog was adopted by a new owner, an event that went viral on social media and highlighted the challenges adult dogs face in adoption fairs.
