Brazilian e-commerce shifts focus to profitability and logistics

The Brazilian e-commerce sector is shifting its focus from pure sales growth to operational profitability and logistical efficiency. While the market continues to expand, companies face rising operational costs and increasing consumer demands for speed and reliability.

Projections from the Brazilian Association of Artificial Intelligence and E-commerce (ABIACOM) suggest the sector could reach R$ 258 billion in revenue by 2026, with a projected annual growth rate of 10% through 2029. This growth brings significant challenges, particularly regarding 'last mile' delivery, which remains the most expensive and difficult stage to scale due to the high volume of individual package deliveries.

Data from Serasa Experian indicates that nearly half of Brazilian small and medium-sized enterprises saw a decline in profitability over the last year, driven largely by rising costs. Experts suggest that maintaining competitiveness now requires better integration between ERP, CRM, and logistics systems to avoid fragmented operations and ensure that rapid delivery promises are met without sacrificing margins.
