Brazilian evangelical group seeks U.S. non-interference in elections

Representatives of the Frente de Evangélicos pelo Estado de Direito traveled to Washington, D.C., to deliver a letter to United States lawmakers requesting that American authorities refrain from interfering in Brazil's upcoming presidential elections.

The delegation met with Senator Raphael Warnock, Senator Adam Schiff, and Representative Hillary Scholten. The group expressed concern regarding reports suggesting a potential plan by the Donald Trump administration to send officials to Brasília to question the integrity of the Brazilian electoral system. The letter seeks to establish a permanent channel of dialogue with U.S. lawmakers to strengthen Brazilian institutional autonomy.

In addition to electoral concerns, the group addressed U.S. tariff measures affecting Brazilian exports, arguing that trade decisions should be based on technical and economic criteria rather than domestic political disputes. The representatives also noted the political diversity within the Brazilian evangelical community, stating that leaders who publicly support Senator Flávio Bolsonaro do not represent the entire constituency.
